Oh I had a similar experience! Over 6 years ago, all of these symptoms starting showing up such as brain fog, anxiety, achy joints, hair loss, fatigue, sleepless nights and more. None of my doctors suggested perimenopause but they did run tests to rule out any diseases. Now I'm dealing with multiple hot flashes daily and waking up between 3 and 4 am with night sweats. And I'm somehow still cycling normally each month. I've tried adjusting my diet, my workouts, and my sleep hygiene but the sweaty, sleepless nights persist along with the other symptoms. Some days are just not easy.
Anyhoo - I hope you find the relief and support that you need so that you can keep writing! : )
Oh Susan, that's miserable! What tests did they run, I wonder?
I was also dealing with night sweats and hot flashes up until February when I was researching phytoestrogens. Turns out low estrogen can contribute to night sweats. I didn't want to start hrt of estrogen just yet and researched phytoestrogens that attach to ErB receptors because they have a short half life and ErB receptors don't affect things like estrogen dominance or carcinogenic effects of breast tissue. What I landed on was red clover.
It's hard to find red clover listed with the isoflavone content but I found it at 40mg tablets. It has completely stopped my nightly sweats and daily hot flashes.
DM me if you want the pubmed articles and brand that I found. It's been 100% worth it.
Hope you start to get some answers and relief soon!
Thank you! I'll DM you about the tests - too long to recount here. And I came to the same conclusion about red clover although it hasn't been as helpful as I had hoped.
